Casino Bonuses in Germany

A bonus is a contract with conditions, not free money. Evaluate the terms before deciding whether a promotion has value.

Read these terms before opting in
- Wagering requirement and what amount must be played through.
- Game contribution and excluded games.
- Maximum bet while a bonus is active.
- Expiry period.
- Excluded payment methods.
- Withdrawal restrictions or caps.
Bonus size is a poor first filter
Authorization, clear terms, payment reliability and player-protection controls matter more than the headline percentage.
Regulatory details can change. Official sources should take priority over comparison-site summaries, including ours.
A worked example: what 50x really means
Wagering is easier to judge as a number of bets than as a multiple. N1Bet's general terms, which we read on 12 October 2026, set 50x wagering on bonuses unless an offer says otherwise, with 7 days to use a bonus. Take a €100 bonus:
- 50 × €100 = €5,000 of bets before the bonus becomes withdrawable cash.
- At €1 a spin, that's 5,000 spins.
- If each spin took five seconds, the minimum average at German-licensed slots, that's nearly seven hours of continuous play, all inside the 7-day window.
The point isn't the exact figure. It's that a "€100 bonus" is really a commitment to thousands of bets, and the longer you play, the more the house edge works against you.
Sticky, non-sticky and win caps
Three terms decide how much a bonus is worth in practice:
- Non-sticky bonuses keep your own money and the bonus separate. N1Bet's terms describe its bonuses as non-sticky, but you still can't withdraw until wagering is complete.
- Win caps limit what you can keep from certain offers. At N1Bet, winnings from no-deposit free spins are capped at 50 EUR, and no-deposit bonus winnings at 5x the bonus unless stated otherwise.
- Maximum bet rules are a common trap. N1Bet's terms say there is no maximum bet while playing with a bonus, which is unusual; most casinos do set one, and breaking it can void your winnings.
Bonuses at German-licensed sites
GGL-licensed providers have to work within the €1 slot stake and the €1,000 monthly deposit limit, so large match bonuses are rare there. Offshore sites advertise much bigger packages, but those numbers usually assume several deposits at the top level. N1Bet's headline package, for example, is spread over four deposits, each with its own code. If you'd only make one deposit, only the first step matters.
When to say no
Skipping a bonus is often the better choice. Playing with your own money means no wagering, no win caps and no locked balance, and you can withdraw whenever you like. If you do take an offer, read the bonus terms before depositing, not after, and decide in advance how much you are prepared to lose trying to clear it.
Questions to answer before you opt in
- What is the wagering multiple, and is it on the bonus alone or on deposit plus bonus?
- How many days do you have, and when does the clock start?
- Which games count, and do some count at less than 100%?
- Is there a maximum bet while the bonus is active?
- Is there a cap on what you can win or withdraw?
- Can you cancel the bonus and keep your own deposit?
If the terms don't answer all six, ask support before depositing and save the reply. Our welcome bonus explainer goes through each term in more detail.
Game weighting and excluded games
Not every game counts fully towards wagering. Slots usually count at 100%, while table games and live casino often count at a fraction or not at all, and some high-RTP slots are excluded. If roulette counts at 10%, a €5,000 requirement becomes €50,000 of roulette bets. The list of excluded or reduced games is normally in the bonus terms, often near the bottom. Read it before you start playing, because bets on excluded games can void the bonus.
Cancelling a bonus
Most casinos let you cancel an active bonus, but the terms decide what happens to the money. Usually the bonus and any winnings from it are removed, and only what's left of your own deposit stays. Check this before you play, so you know your way out if the wagering turns out to be more than you want.
