Void bets

A void selection is generally returned at the stake amount for a single; in multiples it is commonly treated as odds of 1.00. The operator's rules control the exact outcome.

Postponed events

Bookmakers can specify how long an event may be delayed before bets are void. Different sports and markets can use different windows.

Dead heats

If two or more competitors tie for a finishing position, dead-heat rules can reduce the portion of the stake treated as winning.

Participant rules

Player props may require a participant to start, take part, or reach a particular stage. “Did not play” does not always have one universal treatment.

Official result and data source

Sportsbooks specify which governing body, official result or statistics supplier controls settlement. Later corrections may not necessarily change a settled bet.

Football timing

Many match markets use 90 minutes plus stoppage time and exclude extra time unless stated otherwise.
