Glossary
Volatility (Slot Variance)
How a slot game's payouts are distributed over time — low volatility means smaller, more frequent wins; high volatility means bigger but rarer wins, with longer losing streaks in between.
Why it matters
Two slots can share the same RTP but feel completely different to play. Volatility, not RTP alone, is usually what determines whether a session feels smooth or feels like a rollercoaster.
Examples
- A low-volatility slot might return small wins on 1 in 4 spins.
- A high-volatility slot might go 40+ spins without a meaningful win, then pay out a large multiplier.
