Multi-Table Tournament (MTT)
A poker tournament format where hundreds or thousands of players compete across many tables simultaneously, with tables consolidating as players are eliminated, until a single final table remains.
Why it matters
MTTs are how the largest guaranteed prize pools in online poker are built, including headline events like the Venom on America's Cardroom — but they also carry much higher variance than cash games or Sit & Gos.
Examples
- A $10 MTT with 5,000 entrants might pay only the top 15% of the field, with the winner taking a disproportionate share.
- Late-registration periods let players join an MTT already in progress, usually for the first hour or two.
