The legal position, in plain English
Before comparing anything, you should know where online casinos stand in Australia. Under the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, it is illegal for companies to offer online casino games to people in Australia, and illegal to advertise them here. No online casino holds an Australian licence. What Australian law does license is online wagering, such as sports and racing betting, through providers licensed by a state or territory.
The Act targets providers and advertisers, not players: it is not an offence for an individual Australian to use an offshore casino. But that also means you have none of the protections of a licensed Australian service. The casinos on this page are licensed offshore, in Curaçao, and the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) regularly has offshore casino sites blocked by internet providers. In April to June 2024 alone, it referred 50 websites for blocking.
What that means if you still decide to play
- No Australian regulator. If a withdrawal is refused, ACMA can't get your money back. Your options are the operator's complaints process and its overseas regulator.
- BetStop doesn't apply. BetStop, the National Self-Exclusion Register, covers Australian-licensed online and phone wagering. Offshore casinos aren't connected to it.
- Sites can disappear. A blocked site may reappear on a new address. Be careful with lookalike domains, and keep balances small.
- Payment rules differ. The ban on credit cards and digital currency that took effect on 11 June 2024 applies to Australian-licensed wagering providers. Offshore casinos aren't bound by it, so nothing stops you depositing on credit. Don't.
Who runs the casinos in the table
All five casinos in the table are licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority to the same company, Stable Tech N.V., under licence OGL/2024/161/0191. On 12 October 2026 the authority's verification portal listed the licence as active, with N1Bet, RollXO, SpiritCasino, SlotLords and Joocasino among the approved domains. So the account rules, verification and complaints route are likely to be similar across them. Our N1Bet review covers the terms we read in detail: 50x bonus wagering unless an offer says otherwise, 7 days to use a bonus, full verification before any withdrawal, and a monthly withdrawal cap for standard accounts.
How to read the comparison
The "best for" column is our short description of what each site is built around, not a promise about your experience. Bonus offers, payment methods and availability change and can differ by country, so open the site's own terms before you deposit. If a casino doesn't accept players from your location, it should say so at sign-up; don't use a VPN to get around that, because it usually breaks the terms and can void winnings.
Withdrawals and safer-gambling tools
From the terms we read for N1Bet, the main points carry over to its sister sites: you must fully verify your account before you can request a withdrawal, a bonus has to be fully wagered first, and standard accounts have a monthly withdrawal cap (C$22,500 on the Canadian site; the figure in Australian dollars may differ). If you win a large amount, expect it to be paid in instalments.
The safer-gambling information is the weak spot. N1Bet's responsible gaming page gives general advice and links to support services, but doesn't describe deposit limits, reality checks or self-exclusion tools in your account. Ask support what limits you can set before you deposit, and if they can't tell you, take that seriously.
A short checklist before depositing
- Read the bonus terms, or skip the bonus and play with cash only.
- Check which payment methods also work for withdrawals.
- Upload ID and proof of address straight after signing up.
- Set your own deposit limit, because no Australian system will set one for you.
- Decide in advance how much you are prepared to lose, and stop there.

FAQ
Do I need ID verification?
Often yes. Verification is common for withdrawals and is a normal part of safer gambling and fraud prevention.
How do I avoid bad bonus terms?
Look for clear wagering requirements, withdrawal limits, and exclusions. If the terms are hard to find, treat that as a warning sign.
